This web site has been developed for providing in-situ data in near real time; supporting all ISRO science missions like Oceansat, INSAT 3D, Megha Tropiques, Saral Altika and future missions in a secure manner.

ISRO has taken lead in developing a CALVAL site at Kavaratti with focus on OCEANSAT related studies. Here instruments like sun photometer, optical buoy (under ocean) met buoy, GPS radiosonde and so on have been installed for measuring ground values which are used for refining the quality of products generated. The data from Kavaratti is received through satellite links and organised and archived at the web server.

Similarly, synchronous ground truth is carried out at pre-determined sites at sea for studying chlorophyll content, total suspended matter, wind speed, attenuation coefficient, aerosol optical depth, wind speed and direction. This data will also be disseminated from this web site.

The Megha Tropiques satellite (INDO FRENCH (CNES) COLLABORATION) is focused on Atmospheric research. To support the products from this mission Radiosondes, Micro Rain Radar, Disdrometer, Rain Guages and many more instruments will be deployed for collecting ground data. In-situ data collected from these instruments is also planned for dissemination from this web site. It is planned to share the in-situ data collected by CNES through this web site.
